I read Shōgun by James Clavell when I was younger. Instead of Japan though, I ended up in China.

Another one was The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles. Instead of North Africa, I went to South Africa. It’s actually funny how life worked out 😄

I guess in the process of visualizing those places whilst reading, I somehow manifested the travels in real life.
